My (Kinda) Senior Year

Since 9th grade I have been planning on graduating early. Well... I've been working on it since the end of 10th grade. Somehow going into 11th, this math didn't work out too well. So, this summer I hit it hard and tried to get my school work done.
I had it figured out that in order to graduate early over this summer I had to do an extra 1/2 credit of History and an extra credit of Literature. I figured it wouldn't be to hard to get those done. What I forgot to figure in is that I would be gone for over 4 weeks this summer. Yeah, being gone for 1/3 of the time you have to get a lot done, doesn't work too well.
Now starting my official junior year, and my hopeful senior year I have to buckle down and get my stuff done. Over the summer I was supposed to complete Bob Jones (BJU) 11th grade Literature and BJU American Government, which is a half credit book that according to the BJU curriculum you are supposed to do in 12th grade. Over the summer I DID complete all but 3  chapters of the American Government and a little under half of the Literature, so we'll see how this goes.
The work I was supposed to do this Summer.

So since I didn't get that done this summer that sets me slightly back. This year I also have to complete a few elective that I haven't gotten around to before, so I'll have a little more school work than I normally do. So here is the official grand total list of the things I need to do this year.
This years school work.

-Keeping Financial Records For Business
This is the Math I'm doing this year, I am really looking forward to it. After graduation I am hoping to open a daycare, so this is something I think would be helpful as a small business owner.

-British Literature
This is the standard BJU 12th grade Literature, as soon as I finish my 11th grade Literature I can start this one. Ha ha, me finishing something, that's funny!

-Skills for Rhetoric
This is one my mom has wanted me to take for years and I never got around to it. Well, now I need to fill in my English credits and guess what showed up! This is a little more in-depth and will require a little more time, but I am looking forward to it. Writing is something I really enjoy and I am excited for an opportunity to improve my skills

-United States History
This is just the Basic BJU 11th grade History. I ended up doing them a little out of order. I did their 12th grade book, (or at least some of it) over the summer, because it's shorter, and now I'm going back and doing 11th grade.

-Keyboarding, Formatting Document Processing
This is something we added in as an elective. It starts out with a lot of typing and then starts talking about more formatting and how to set stuff up.

-Economics
This is an add on to the BJU 12th grade History, but I'm doing it on the side as an elective.

-The Thinking Tool Box
This is one of those "Before you graduate" requirements from my parents. Once again, I put it off and ended up adding it to my busy schedule this year. I wasn't really enthusiastic about doing it so I conned my 10 year old brother into doing it with me. He's enjoying it and we get to spend some time together, win, win!

-Khan Academy Human Anatomy and Philology
This one isn't in my picture, but I couldn't leave it out. Khan Academy is a WONDERFUL website where you can take classes for free, including all kinds of subjects. Last year when my brother was in 4th grade he did his math on Khan, and it helped him a lot. The way their math is set up it automatically tested him into what he hadn't learned yet, and skipped the things he already knew. I also started computer programming on there, GREAT course!

This is in addition to all the work I need to finish from this summer, and I'm sure I'll find something I forgot I had to do. It doesn't look like too much, but it sure feels like a lot! I just need to keep reminding myself that if God wants me to graduate this year He'll give me the grace (and the time) to get all my work done. 'Cause you know what? There is NO WAY I can do it myself!

Why am I the only one who gets to talk? I would love to hear what you're doing for school this year! Tell me in the comments!

  1. so cool!
im going to check out kahn. b tests so high for his age that hes flying off the charts really fast. hes just so far ahead. math is the only thing hes "behind" on compared to everything else, and hes still a grade ahead on that, but apparently its mostly because of telling time with a clock. :P
i was looking at math u see, and gonna do two years of math this year. so maybe we will see about this kahn. :P
glad i found you on here. ;)

10 Ways to Stretch Hamburger

Hamburger is getting expensive now days! With our family of 7 we are constantly trying to find ways to cut down on our hamburger usage. These are my top 10 favorite ways to stretch hamburger. Beans Beans are one of my favorite things to use to make hamburger stretch. They taste similar, and they even look similar, the kids will never know. Whahahahaha! Rice We use rice a lot when it's going into burritos, or casseroles, it's a little more visible than beans, but it cuts in nicely. Onions Onions are nice because if you cut them up small they get translucent and you can hardly see them. Tomato Paste I know this sounds weird, but we put an 8 oz can of tomato paste in our taco meat the other night, it was wonderful! Bread Crumbs I'm not as fond of this one, and I only use it in a few recipes, but it is valuable in the ones I use it in. Barley I haven't tried this one yet, but I can't wait to try it. I love barley to start with, so this is going to b
